Our First Resort
When David was informed of bad news concerning Ahithophel – “And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom…”
David’s FIRST response was prayer – “…And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.” II Samuel 15:31
Who or what we turn to at the onset of a crisis says volumes about where we have placed our confidence. David first prayed and then the Lord sent just the right person to aid him. Yes, there may be times when we must pray and act at the same time. But, whether the need is for strength, wisdom, deliverance, provision, etc., let’s make sure that prayer is our FIRST resort and not our last.
“Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may CONTINUALLY RESORT: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.” Psalm 71:3
