Self-Examination

“It is not my aim to introduce doubts and fears into your mind; no, but I do hope self-examination may help to drive them away. It is not security, but false security, which we would kill; not confidence, but false confidence, which we would overthrow; not peace, but false peace, which we would destroy.” ~ C.H. Spurgeon

I read the above quote just now and it reminded me of our pastor who has readily admitted to frequently preaching on Biblical evidences of salvation – not to make one doubt but to destroy a false security to which many are cleaving! For that, I am very thankful!

“Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” II Corinthians 13:5
