Did You Drink All Of Your Milk This Morning?

This morning just seemed to be a good day for muffins. As expected, licking the bowl was the anticipated treat. “Don’t get it all, Nana”, was the plea as I scraped the bowl…

Milk accompanied the muffins, along with a conversation about the benefits of this dairy product:

“Drink your milk, boys…milk will make you strong…”

“Yeah…milk is the same as spinach…”

“No, milk isn’t the same as spinach…”

“Yes, it is…spinach makes you strong and milk makes you strong so, spinach and milk are the same.”

(Okaaaay, I can follow that reasoning…)

“Well, milk isn’t the SAME as spinach…but it will make you strong…”

During all of this, my other lil buddy was too busy devouring his muffin to enter into the conversation….until…

“Nanna, can this be enough milk?”

“No, you need to drink it all…remember….it will make you strong…”

(A few minutes and a half-cup full later…)

“I think this is enough milk to make me stronger.”

Hmmmmmm – apparently, he believed a half cup of milk was enough to get him through the day. 🙂

How about us? As we read our Bible each morning, are we making the decision or are we allowing GOD to tell us whether or not we have had “enough milk to make us stronger”? We may not actually come out and say it, but as our mind wanders to everything we need to do that day, is our attitude – “God, can this be enough milk for today?” Whether we are a newborn Christian who is indeed feeding on the milk of the Word, or if we are now eating the meatier passages, each of us desperately needs strength for each new day! Only God knows exactly what we need for the challenges that we will face – let’s make sure we are drinking ALL of our “milk” that the Lord has for us each morning!

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”  I Peter 2:2

“Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.”  Psalm 119:92
