Below is an article, written by our pastor’s wife, that I know will be a blessing!

A Heart For The Lord

Our ladies ministry theme last year was “A Heart For The Lord” and I enjoyed pondering that thought throughout the year. I tried to highlight the word “heart” each time it is used in the Bible – some 925 times.

During my reading, sometime last year, the passage in Exodus stuck out to me…the result of having a heart for the Lord. Moses is instructing the children of Israel on bringing items in for the construction of the tabernacle.

Willing-hearted“Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass” Exodus 35:5

“And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD.” Exodus 35:22

“The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.”  Exodus 35:29

Wise-hearted – “And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;” Exodus 35:10

“And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.” Exodus 35:25

“Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.” Exodus 35:35

“Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.
And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:” Exodus 36:1,2

Stirred Heart“And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats’ hair.” Exodus 35:26

“And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it:” Exodus 36:2

Teachable Heart“And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.” Exodus 35:34

OH, what the Lord can do with those who are willing and wise-hearted; who have stirred and teachable hearts! The result of all of this is in Exodus 36:5,6 –

“And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make….So the people were restrained from bringing.”

The result of having a heart for the Lord: There was MORE THAN enough to construct the tabernacle; they were even told not to bring anything else in. A person who has a “heart for the Lord” loves Him and His cause. He or she will go way above what is asked or expected.

WOW!!  Would the Lord ever have to tell me to slow down or stop because I was doing or giving too much to HIS cause??

“I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.” Psalm 9:1
