The Old Paths

Proverbs 22:28- “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.”

At the Sword Conference this year, Bro. Gary Randall preached a message from this verse titled “Don’t Touch Those Ancient Landmarks!” It was a sober reminder for us not to be changing and compromising the ways that our forefathers of the faith fought for. He also made a statement that really stood out to me and  went something like this,

“Things get MOVED before they get REMOVED.”

If we’re not careful, we will let standards slip before, eventually, doing away with them altogether!  We seem to have formed this mindset that, “if we stay a certain distance from the world then we’re OK” and in the meanwhile, we are REMOVING standards left and right! Our Pastor has made a statement like this, “If it was wrong 20 years ago…it’s still wrong! If it was sin 50 years ago, it’s still sin!” That’s common sense, is it not? We need Christians that will purpose in their hearts that they will not compromise, but will rather stay on the old paths!

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”  Jeremiah 6:16
