Guarding From Sin,  Obedience,  Peace

Peace Like a River

(Anna is “guest-posting” this evening. The following was taken from her Bible journal.)

“Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:”  Isaiah 48:17,18

In these verses, the Lord is speaking. In the second verse, He is crying out to the people of Jacob and Israel about how He wished that they would have obeyed Him. He goes on to say that if they had obeyed, they would have had peace like a river. Doing right brings peace to us. If we’re not doing right, it could be that we’ve got sin in our life. You know how we felt when we disobeyed momma or daddy? We felt guilty, miserable, etc. We knew we had done wrong but we were afraid to tell them. We didn’t feel peaceful at all. That’s how some people live their life. They try to pretend that everything’s okay but inside, they feel terrible. Why would we want to live like that? When we do obey God or when we get that sin in our heart confessed, we’ll have peace like a river! So, when we don’t feel peace in our hearts, we need to ask God to search inside and see if there’s anything that we need to take care of. The Lord will show us. Then, we will just have to take the next step by taking care of those things. By doing this, we will have peace like a river!!! Can we sing this song truthfully?

~~~~~~~~~~~~I’ve Got Peace Like a River~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river in my soul,
I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.
