Planning Caleb’s and Melody’s long-distance wedding rehearsal dinner proved to be a bit of a challenge for me. After checking into quite a few options (and much prayer for wisdom), we settled on a pizza “fun center”. Now I will admit, a pizza restaurant with lazer tag and arcade games was not my idea of a nice atmosphere for a wedding rehearsal dinner. However, this place had exactly what we needed – a large, private room for our party of 70 or so people. So, you know what? I decided we would just go with the theme of “pizza and games” and have fun<\/strong> with it. (BTW, back in their courting days, Melody’s second visit to our house was a night of pizza and games :))<\/em><\/p>\n

For a simple table decoration, Anna and I began gathering “fun pictures” of the love-birds and adding pizza puns to them. I decided I would put a photo on each table, accompanied by a little poem I wrote. I found most of the puns online and Anna did all the photo editing. We had a great time matching the puns to the pictures – some just fit perfectly<\/strong>! And, when all was said and done, I think the bride and groom had a ball eating pizza and playing lazer tag and games with siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Pizza and games \u2013 not a fancy fare;<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just a time to gather and \u201clet down our hair\u201d, <\/strong><\/p>\n

To spend time with family and that special one<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who\u2019d found her way into the heart of our son.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Much food, more laughter \u2013 \u2018twas quite a sight!<\/p>\n

This would describe that January night.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not all that happened that eve.<\/p>\n

Let me tell you just what we began to perceive\u2026<\/p>\n

Her joyful spirit, her servant\u2019s heart,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her love for Jesus, we saw from the start.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her competitiveness (\u2018twas plain to see),<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her love for children – quite obviously.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This young lady who enjoyed laughing with us,<\/p>\n

Why, she fit right into our craziness!<\/p>\n

Ah yes, \u2018twas clear just why our son<\/p>\n

Was completely smitten with this special one!<\/p>\n

Yes, this special one \u2013 \u201cCaleb\u2019s girl\u201d \u2013 Melody Joy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Had found her way into the heart of our boy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But that January night of family fun,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Melody found her way into the heart of everyone.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pizza and games \u2013 no, not a fancy fare,<\/p>\n

But a time to gather\u2026maybe \u201clet down our hair\u201d.<\/p>\n

Won\u2019t you join us this night? \u2013 a special night, I believe<\/p>\n
