“…O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually<\/strong>, able to deliver thee from the lions?” Daniel 6:20<\/em><\/p>\n

Daniel is, without a doubt, a favorite Bible character of many – and for good reason. I love his purpose…his steadfastness…his determination. When Daniel heard about the decree that had just been signed – banning any prayer to God – we see his reaction in Daniel 6:10…<\/p>\n

“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Daniel just kept praying.<\/p>\n

As I continued to read this morning, I came to verse 20 – the verse at the beginning of this post – and the phrase “whom thou servest continually” stood out to me. I like what a commentator said about this phrase:<\/p>\n

“Whom thou servest continually<\/em> – At all times, and in all circumstances: as a captive in a distant land; in places of honor and power; when surrounded by the great who worship other gods; and when threatened with death for your devotion to the service of God. This had been the character of Daniel, and it was natural to refer to it now.” ~ Albert Barnes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Simply put, Daniel just kept on serving God no matter what came his way. What a great example for each of us this morning! As my mom said recently, “Just keep on keeping on! It will be worth it all when we see Jesus.” Amen!<\/p>\n

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
