Once in royal David’s city,
\nStood a lowly cattle shed,
\nWhere a mother laid her Baby,
\nIn a manger for His bed:
\nMary was that mother mild,
\nJesus Christ, her little Child.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He came down to earth from heaven,<\/strong>
\n Who is God and Lord of all,<\/strong>
\n And His shelter was a stable,<\/strong>
\n And His cradle was a stall:<\/strong>
\n With the poor, and mean, and lowly,<\/strong>
\n Lived on earth our Saviour holy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For He is our childhood’s pattern;<\/strong>
\n Day by day, like us, He grew;<\/strong>
\n He was little, weak, and helpless,<\/strong>
\n Tears and smiles, like us He knew;<\/strong>
\n And He cares when we are sad,<\/strong>
\n And He shares when we are glad.<\/strong>
\n
\n<\/span>And our eyes at last shall see Him,<\/strong>
\n Through His own redeeming love;<\/strong>
\n For that Child so dear and gentle,<\/strong>
\n Is our Lord in heaven above:<\/strong>
\n And He leads His children on,<\/strong>
\n To the place where He is gone.<\/strong><\/p>\n
