I&#8217;m not sure what\u00a0tickled his funny bone\u00a0as we sat waiting for our car to be fixed, but I managed to capture his first reaction&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Clinthandonmouth-e1446210088345.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3940\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Clinthandonmouth-e1446210088345-768x1024.jpg?resize=768%2C1024\" alt=\"Clinthandonmouth\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Clinthandonmouth-e1446210088345.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Clinthandonmouth-e1446210088345.jpg?resize=225%2C300&amp;ssl=1 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Clinthandonmouth-e1446210088345.jpg?w=1920 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The above verse is a good reminder of the importance of guarding our heart from wrong thoughts. We&#8217;ve all had times where we have failed to think before speaking and, in our haste, have blurted out words we have immediately regretted. Then, as if to make things better, we immediately say something like, &#8220;I&#8217;m sorry&#8230;I don&#8217;t know where that came from&#8230;&#8221;\u00a0 That sort of apology may make US feel better, but\u00a0the truth is\u00a0we have\u00a0actually revealed what was deep down in our heart. Evil speaking is a product of evil thinking. If we were truthful, we would have to say, &#8220;I&#8217;m sorry&#8230;that came from my heart&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Matthew 15:18 says it like this, &#8220;But those things which proceed out of the mouth <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">come forth from the heart<\/span>; and they defile the man.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So, what is the\u00a0preventive maintenance\u00a0for\u00a0blurting out\u00a0words we later regret? Duct tape??\u00a0 Possibly&#8230;after all, it does come in just about any color these days. \ud83d\ude09\u00a0 In all seriousness, Proverbs 6:23 gives us the remedy &#8211; <strong><em>&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keep thy heart<\/span> with all diligence; for out of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">it<\/span> are the issues of life.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>The root problem of ungodly speech is not the mouth but the heart. A heart that is not being guarded is like a volcano that could erupt at any moment\u00a0&#8211; spewing forth hurtful words that cannot be taken back.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is an area in which each of us will battle\u00a0but by God&#8217;s grace, let&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">strive<\/span> to tame the tongue by guarding the heart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>&#8220;<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.<br \/>\nA good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><em>Matthew 12:34,35<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;&#8230;if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.&#8221;\u00a0 Proverbs 30:32 Reading the above verse this morning brought to my mind a recent picture I had taken of Clint.
