{"id":3495,"date":"2015-09-05T09:43:26","date_gmt":"2015-09-05T13:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/?p=3495"},"modified":"2015-09-05T09:43:26","modified_gmt":"2015-09-05T13:43:26","slug":"victim-mentality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inthineheart.com\/staging\/8143\/2015\/09\/05\/victim-mentality\/","title":{"rendered":"Victim Mentality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>&#8220;Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em>Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king&#8217;s hand.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me<\/span>.&#8221;\u00a0 I Samuel 23:19-21<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In my Bible, beside the words of King Saul (above), I have written &#8211; &#8220;WHAT?!?!&#8221;\u00a0 And, every time I read this passage, I just shake my head as I wonder how a person could be so blinded to their own wrong-doings&#8230;to the point of only seeing themselves as a VICTIM in their circumstance. King Saul was being driven by his own jealousy to kill David&#8230;but&#8230;King Saul is the one being wronged??\u00a0 I don&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reading this story is a very good reminder of just how blinded each of us can be to our own faults in a matter. Yes, there are times when we may find ourselves as the victim of injustice. And, just as Joseph was falsely accused, we must stay in God&#8217;s presence while remembering He has allowed it for our good. But, before we\u00a0automatically pass out the pity party invitations\u00a0any time we find ourselves on the receiving end of what we deem as injustice, our first stop should be at a mirror as we ask\u00a0 some questions &#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Have I brought this\u00a0affliction on myself?\u00a0 Have my words or actions played a part in this strife? What about my attitude?\u00a0 If we are honest with ourselves (and honesty can be painful), I believe there will be times that we will realize our perceived mistreatment is at least in part the\u00a0fruit of some fleshly seed we have sown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>&#8220;Search <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">me<\/span>, O God, and know <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">my<\/span> heart: try <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">me<\/span>, and know <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">my<\/span> thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">me<\/span>, and lead me in the way everlasting.&#8221;\u00a0 Psalm 139:23,24\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
