While reading in Proverbs this morning, I couldn\u2019t help but think of \u201cThe Boomerang Song\u201d by Ron Hamilton (Patch the Pirate). The verses below, followed by the song lyrics, sound out a clear warning to those who target God\u2019s children with their evil slander and schemes. Consider the following:<\/p>\n
\u201cHis own<\/span> iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 5:22<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own<\/span> wickedness.\u201d Proverbs 11:5<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own<\/span> naughtiness.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 11:6<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cAs righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own<\/span> death.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 11:19<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cHe that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 11:27<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe wicked is snared by the transgression of his<\/span> lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 12:13<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWhoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own<\/span> pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 28:10<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n If\/when we find ourselves on the receiving end of evil, remember Haman. Little did he know that the very gallows he so anxiously had built for Mordecai would be the very ones on which he was hanged. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cThen said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.\u201d Esther 5:14<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Two Chapters Later –<\/p>\n \u201cAnd Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon. So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai\u2026\u201d\u00a0 Esther 7:9,10<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Although, at one point, it looked as if Haman\u2019s evil schemes to destroy Mordecai would be a success, the end result was Haman\u2019s \u201cboomerang of evil\u201d coming back to visit him. The following chorus to the children\u2019s song I mentioned is a good reminder of this truth\u2026this \u201claw of the boomerang\u201d:<\/p>\n Oh the boomerang\u2019s gonna come back, gonna come back, gonna come back to you<\/b><\/p>\n So be careful what you say, my friend, and be careful what you do.<\/b><\/p>\n If you go thru life giving out evil, you\u2019ll get back evil too;<\/b><\/p>\n Cause the boomerang\u2019s gonna come back, gonna come back, gonna come back to you!<\/b><\/p>\n (Ron Hamilton)<\/b><\/p>\n We serve a just God and II Thessalonians 1:6 reminds us of His thoughts toward recompensing evil:<\/p>\n \u201c\u2026it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n We need only to continue serving Him while relying on His sufficient grace.
