“Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellers.”<\/strong>  Psalm 119:24 <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In the above verse, “testimonies”  is another word for the Bible or God’s Word. David says here that he delights in God’s Word. What does delight mean? Delight means “A high degree of pleasure, or satisfaction of mind; joy.” That’s a pretty strong feeling, wouldn’t you think? There are two different ways young people read their Bible. Some read their Bible as a mere duty…it becomes a day-to-day ritual…while others “delight” in reading their Bible. Some just skip right throught their Bible reading…reading only words…while others can’t wait<\/strong> to read their Bible each day and see what God has for them! I wonder which category we would fall in to?<\/p>\n

Let’s look at the second word in this verse that David mentions – “counsellers”. What does that mean “Thy testimonies are…my counsellers”<\/strong><\/em>? This means, when David needed advice or instruction, he went straight to God’s Word. So often, when young people have to make a decision, they will first figure out how they<\/strong> want to do it, then they will go around asking counsel (since it’s the “right thing to do”). They’ve already decided how they<\/strong> want to make that decision, so when they go to  “receive counsel”  their mind is closed to the person’s advice if it’s contrary to what they’ve<\/strong> already decided.<\/p>\n

If we ever have to go ask for advice…which we will…let’s be sure, first of all, that we always seek Godly<\/strong> counsel but also make sure we are opened to what our Godly advisors will say whether or not that’s what we want to hear. Remember, the right counsel we receive will always, always<\/strong> line up with the “Final Authority” which is God’s Word.  In Proverbs 19:21 it says, “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”<\/strong><\/em> Today, let’s be sure that Jesus is our number one Counselor!<\/p>\n
