Johnny Pope on \u201cBringing the Spirit-Filled Life Home\u201d. \u00a0Br. Pope brought out a very important truth concerning a wife\u2019s responsibility toward a husband who is either not saved or is backslidden. His point was: A husband who is being disobedient to the Word of God (either unsaved or backslid), will NOT be won by a wife\u2019s words. In fact, the continual pleading and (can I say it)\u2026NAGGING\u2026will only drive a husband further away from Truth. The book of Proverbs warns of the nagging wife \u2013<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>\u201c\u2026the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.\u201d Proverbs 19:13<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>\u201cA continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.\u201d Proverbs 27:15<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA continual dropping\u201d\u2026drip, drip, drip\u2026nag, nag, nag. THAT is what our continual \u201cwords of wisdom\u201d and \u201cmini sermons\u201d and \u201cwhining\u201d and \u201cangry words\u201d\u2026etc\u2026sound like to our husbands.<b> <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Are we \u201cwinning\u201d our husbands to the Lord; are we drawing them to Truth when we handle situations in this manner? No. In fact, we are driving them further and further away. We also read in Proverbs &#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>\u201cIt is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.\u201d Proverbs 21:9<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>\u201cIt is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.\u201d Proverbs 21:19<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The corner of the housetop and yes, even the wilderness sound much more inviting to a husband whose wife is constantly confronting him concerning his spiritual condition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">NEWS FLASH \u2013 Wives are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not<\/span> their husbands\u2019 Holy Spirit.<\/span> \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Think about that for a minute. If we have a husband that is not right with God, what would we rather take place in their life? Would we rather them comply with our wishes just to get us off their back or would we rather GOD speak to them? Would we rather GOD get hold of their heart and thus produce LASTING changes in their life?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So, what is a wife to do? The end of I Peter 3:1, as well as verses 2-5 tells us:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>\u201c\u2026they also may <span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">without the word be won by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">the conversation <\/span>of the wives; While they behold your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">chaste conversation<\/span> coupled with fear<\/span>. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hidden man of the heart,<\/span> in that which is not corruptible, even <span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">the ornament of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a meek and quiet spirit<\/span>,<\/span> which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">who trusted in God<\/span>, adorned themselves, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">being in subjection<\/span> unto their own husbands:\u201d\u00a0 I Peter 3:1-5<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The word \u201cconversation\u201d speaks of our behavior,<strong> NOT<\/strong> our words. How is a husband who is living in\u00a0disobedience to God&#8217;s Word won to Truth?\u00a0 Through the godly behavior of a wife who has adorned herself with a meek and quiet spirit (not a contentious spirit) while being in subjection to her husband and trusting <strong>GOD<\/strong> to do the work that needs to be done in his heart. Some may argue, \u201cThat is just not me\u2026I am just naturally an outspoken person who tells it like it is.\u201d\u00a0 Well, the above verses tell all wives to \u201cadorn\u201d themselves with a meek and quiet spirit. This Godly characteristic may be more of a challenge for some than others, but, just as we would adorn ourselves with a necklace, or just as we would adorn a tree at Christmas time with ornaments, so should a Christian wife adorn or \u201cput on\u201d a meek and quiet spirit. Did you notice what God thinks of this quality in women? The above passage says, <em><strong>\u201c\u2026which is in the sight of God <span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">of great price.\u201d<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A good question for each of us wives to ask ourselves from time to time would be, \u201cHow valuable is my behavior in GOD\u2019S sight?
