There is not one of us that do not struggle with foolish pride on a continual basis. Knowing that God resists the proud but gives GRACE to the humble is reason enough to desire to be made aware of the characteristics of pride and thus, with God&#8217;s help, strive to avoid this sin in our hearts. I do know this &#8211; if our reaction to the title is &#8220;Oh, I know someone that needs to read this&#8221;, then we probably need to spend extra time reading, rereading and contemplating the truths presented&#8230;)<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride blinds you to your wicked ways.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness opens your eyes to your wicked ways.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride keeps you from seeking God&#8217;s face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness encourages you to seek God&#8217;s face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride is characterized by a stiff neck.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness is exemplified by a bowed head.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride fragments families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness reconciles families.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride generates contention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness invites unity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride is the mother of rebellion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness is the heart of submission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride glories in self will, self effort, and self exaltation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness glories in the Cross.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride compares Self against others\u2014\u201cI am smarter than you\u2026I am cleaner than you\u2026l am stronger than you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness compares Self with Christ and concludes\u2014\u201cI am the chief of sinners.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride reflects the nature of Satan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness mirrors the image of Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride takes credit for accomplishments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness recognizes all good accomplishments have their source outside of Self.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride seeks recognition from men.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness seeks approval from God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride will make you cover up and hide from others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness frees you to be transparent and honest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride leads you to blame circumstances or others for your failure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness accepts responsibility for failure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride breeds suspicion of fellow believers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness brings more suspicion of Self than anyone else.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride makes you think more highly of yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness enables you to think more highly of others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride is quick to detect pride in others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness is quick to identify pride in oneself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride makes you critical.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness makes you compassionate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride hastily applies preaching to others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness is quick to internalize preaching.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride easily detects the speck in your brother&#8217;s eye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness readily detects the beam in your own eye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride believes you are a good person who happened to do some bad things.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness realizes you are a sinner through-and-through.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride puffs up and swells your head.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness brings perspective and breaks your heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride deals with sin in general.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness deals with sin in specifics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride deals with the fruit of sin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness deals with the root of sin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride will cause you to deal with things that are respectable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness causes you to deal with what is real.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride brings crustiness and hardness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness brings pliability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride is consumed with &#8220;I&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness is concerned with &#8220;Not I, but Christ.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Pride seeks prominence for Self.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Brokenness seeks the preeminence of Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;
