Waiting – A Reminder From Joseph’s Life

“Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.” Genesis 40:23

After the above incident occurred in Joseph’s life, another full two years passed before he was remembered and brought out of prison. Reading this passage again this morning was a very good reminder of the perfect timing of God. We must remember that there is always a purpose…a plan to what we may perceive as God’s delays. In this instance, if Joseph had indeed been released two years earlier, he may very well have gone back to his homeland. But God knew that two years later he would be needed to interpret the king’s dreams – which, of course, led to his releasing, promotion, preserving the people during the famine as well as a reunion with his family.

“Those that patiently wait for God shall be paid for their waiting, not only principal but interest” ~ Matthew Henry

“It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” Lamentations 3:26
